Oliver has truly settled into his foster home, and we’re thrilled to say he’s ready to find his forever family! This goofy, lovable Great Dane mix is a 1000% goofball with no regard for personal space—he wants to be as close to his humans as possible. If you’re looking for a giant lap dog who will make you laugh daily, Ollie is your guy!
Why You’ll Love Oliver:
🐾 Affectionate & Velcro Dog – He thrives on being near his people and will lean, cuddle, or climb into your lap at every opportunity. 🐾 Playful & Entertaining – A total clown, Oliver has hilarious “Oliver Party of One” moments where he bounces, zooms, and jumps with his toys. 🐾 Loves Toys – He ALWAYS has a toy in his mouth and self-soothes with them. Whether he’s carrying a toy on walks or showing off his latest prize to guests, toys are his favorite thing. 🐾 Smart & Trainable – Knows sit, down, come, heel, and stay. He’s highly food-motivated and loves puzzle toys, making him a quick learner (as long as string cheese is involved!). 🐾 Loyal & Attentive – He constantly checks in with his people, even off-leash. While he loves to run, he always makes sure you’re close by. 🐾 Couch Potato Vibes – When he’s not bouncing around, he loves to sprawl upside-down on the couch and snooze for hours. 🐾 Great on Car Rides – He enjoys riding along on adventures and being included in activities.
Training & Needs:
✅ Crate trained – Sleeps in his “apartment” in the bedroom, which includes a kennel and a big comfy bed. ✅ Housetrained – Does well with a routine and structure. ✅ Leash trained – Walks well with a gentle leader, though he likes to carry the leash in his mouth. ✅ Not destructive – While he might steal a sock or toilet paper roll just to show it off, he doesn’t destroy furniture or household items. ⚠️ Needs to be the only dog – He is very reactive toward other dogs and should be the only pet in the home. He has had a few successful interactions with a trainer’s dogs but is not reliable around others. ⚠️ Needs space to run – He does best with room to zoom and play outside. A large yard or enclosed space would be ideal. ⚠️ Has food allergies – He is allergic to lamb, chicken, grains, and goat milk. He does well with fish and potatoes, flossys, and pig ears. If he has an allergic reaction, he can panic and will need help calming down. ⚠️ Can be anxious – Oliver struggles with separation anxiety and does best with structure. When left alone, he stays in his “apartment” and feels secure there. He isn’t destructive, but he does get nervous when left for too long.
Favorite Activities:
🐶 Playing with toys – He needs toys nearby at all times. “Good boys get toys” is his motto! 🐶 Running and bouncing outside – Loves zoomies in an open space, checking in with his human frequently. 🐶 Cuddling & leaning – Oliver is happiest when he’s physically close to you. 🐶 Exploring on walks – While he does well on leash, he prefers areas without other dogs around. 🐶 Showing off his finds – Whether it’s a sock, a toy, or toilet paper, he loves to present his treasures with pride. 🐶 Lazing on the couch – After all that playing, he’s more than happy to lounge for hours with his people.
The Perfect Home for Oliver:
Oliver thrives in a home with a patient and devoted owner who is willing to continue his training and help him through moments of anxiety. He needs a family that enjoys having a big, loving shadow and is committed to providing structure and consistency. A home with a large yard or space for him to run is ideal, and he would do best as the only pet in a home without frequent exposure to other dogs.
If you’re looking for a goofy, affectionate, and loyal companion who will keep you entertained and shower you with love, Oliver might just be your perfect match! 💙🐶
