Meet Kara

Status: Available

Sex: SF     Age: 8 yrs    Ears: Natural

Color: Black  Weight:  100 lbs

At 8 years young, Kara is looking for a soft place to land after the heartbreaking loss of her beloved owner. A cherished alum of Rocky Mountain Great Dane Rescue, Kara has clearly known love and loyalty—and she’s ready to offer it again to a family willing to open their hearts. 💚

Now, she’s searching for her forever home—a calm, cozy place where she can enjoy her golden years surrounded by love, kindness, and the comfort of routine.

💫 About Kara

Kara is the total package of grace, gentleness, and goofy charm. She’s incredibly affectionate and thrives on being close to her people—especially if there are cuddles involved! She loves routine and responds beautifully to calm, confident guidance. While she doesn’t need a dominant “pack leader,” she does appreciate someone who will kindly but clearly show her the ropes.

🐾 Her Skills

✅ Housetrained
✅ Trustworthy with free roam
✅ Leash trained — does well on a regular collar, pulls a little when there’s a good sniff, but responds well to correction
✅ Knows: “Sit,” “Down,” “Come,” “Stay,” and “Off”
✅ Loves walks and potty breaks on leash
✅ Can easily give up food or toys without issue
✅ Not destructive — enjoys toys, especially squeaky ones she doesn’t destroy!

🛋️ Personality & Preferences

Kara is curious and expressive—just look at those ears! She’s an early riser (around 7–8 AM), enjoys long naps throughout the day, and loves snuggling on the couch after a walk. She’s calm and quiet, with the occasional chatty moment to let you know how she feels.

She plays gently and respectfully with the resident cats—sometimes curious and playful, but always responsive to correction. Dog interactions are currently unknown, and she’s still being evaluated with children (though she’s been great with adults).

🏡 Her Ideal Home

Kara would thrive in a quiet, loving home where someone is around to keep her company and help her continue to heal. She would love:

  • A calm environment with routine and reassurance

  • An owner who will lovingly show her boundaries

  • Gentle reminders of what’s okay and what’s not (she listens well!)

  • Plenty of love, snuggles, walks, and… Greenies, of course 💚

Kara may be a senior, but she’s full of life, love, and soulful sweetness. She’s ready to settle in and soak up every peaceful, joyful moment with a forever family by her side. If you’re looking for a devoted companion to share your heart and home, Kara is ready to make her golden years the best chapter yet.
