Bruno (Runo) – Update 1/3/2025
Runo is not just a dog; he’s a personality. This outgoing and affectionate Great Dane has spent time settling in with his foster family, and they’ve learned so much about his bold, playful spirit. Now, it’s time for Runo to find his perfect match—a family that understands his zest for life and will give him the love and structure he needs to thrive.
From the moment Runo walks into a room, his vibrant energy fills the space. He’s playful and curious, always ready for an adventure. Whether it’s a long car ride, a romp in the yard, or simply basking in a sunny spot in the house, Runo finds joy in the simple things. One of his greatest loves is being outdoors. Walks are a highlight of his day, though his enthusiasm can sometimes get the better of him when he encounters other dogs, people, or even a particularly interesting bush.
At home, Runo is a mix of energy and affection. He’s a leaner, often resting his weight against his humans, showing just how much he loves being close. Mealtimes are another favorite part of his day—his excitement is hard to miss as he eagerly anticipates his food, running in and out of the kitchen with a playful spirit. He’s learning to be patient, too, thanks to a training routine that requires him to make eye contact before each handful of food.
Training has been a key part of Runo’s journey. He’s mastered commands like “sit,” “down,” and “off,” and he’s making great strides with “place,” “break,” and “come.” His leash manners are still a work in progress, especially around distractions, but he’s improving with each session. His foster family has also noted his house and crate training; he’s trustworthy with free roam and settles into his crate contentedly when needed.
Runo’s ideal home would include a fenced yard where he can unleash his energy and play to his heart’s content. A family with older children or adults who understand his strength and exuberance would be a great fit. While he’s gentle with his foster family, his playful roughness means younger children might not be the best match just yet. His compatibility with cats is unknown, but careful introductions would be necessary.
One of Runo’s quirks is his love for stuffies—though they don’t last long in his powerful paws! He can growl or play-bite when they’re taken away, but his foster family notes that it’s all in good fun, and he never bites hard. His love for attention also means that if you’re not up and about in the morning, he may just jump on the bed to encourage you to start your day—with him leading the way, of course.
Runo is more than ready for a family that will embrace his bold personality and provide the structure and space he needs to thrive. With the right environment, Runo’s loving, playful nature is sure to shine even brighter. Could your home be the one where this adventurous Dane finally finds his forever?
