After receiving the medical care he needed in foster, Kevin is now ready to find a forever family who will love him as much as he loves being loved! This sweet, 4-year-old Great Dane has a heart arrhythmia that is managed with twice-daily medication costing around $15 a month. While this condition requires careful monitoring during anesthesia and limited strenuous activity, it doesn’t stop Kevin from being a playful, affectionate, and endearing companion.
Kevin’s Personality
Kevin is a quintessential “Velcro dog,” always wanting to be right by your side. Whether lounging on the couch, following you around the house, or leaning into you for comfort, Kevin thrives on affection and closeness. He’s a clown at heart, delighting his family with zoomies, goofy antics, and a love for his stuffies and ball.
He’s also a laid-back couch potato who enjoys snoozing by your side but comes alive when it’s time for play. While he’s friendly to family and visitors, he may need a little time to build confidence in new situations.
Kevin’s Skills & Training
House & Crate Trained: Kevin has never had accidents in his foster home and happily relaxes in his crate when needed.
Knows Basic Commands: He’s mastered “sit,” “down,” “come,” and “heel.”
Leash Trained: While he gets excited and nervous on walks, Kevin is working with a trainer to build confidence and focus, especially around distractions like bikes and other dogs.
Gentle With Toys: He’ll bring you his favorite toy for a game of fetch or entertain himself by tossing it around the yard.
Meal Manners: Kevin sits and waits politely for his meals, and food or toys can be taken away without issue.
What Kevin Needs in a Forever Home

No Small Children or Elderly Residents: Due to his size, strength, and playful zoomies, Kevin might accidentally knock over smaller or less stable family members.
Ideal Pet Arrangement: Kevin has previously lived harmoniously with other Danes, though his behavior around unfamiliar dogs is still uncertain. A home without other pets, or one willing to facilitate slow, supervised introductions with large dogs, would suit him best.
No Cats or Small Pets: Kevin’s strong prey drive suggests he wouldn’t be a good match for cats or small animals.
Fenced Yard: He loves running and playing outside, and a secure yard is perfect for his zoomies.
Calm Environment: Kevin is still building confidence on walks and in new settings, so a low-stress home will help him thrive.
Quirks & Progress
Kevin is making great strides in foster care. While he used to be startled by everything, he’s grown comfortable and happy with his routine. He loves car rides, enjoys spending time with his family, and is learning to handle walks at the park with more confidence. With consistent training, he’s improving every day.
