Meet Rocko
Status: Foster Needed
Sex: Male Age: 4 yrs Ears: Natural
Color: Merle Weight: 160 lbs
If you’re looking for a giant-sized cuddle buddy with a lovable personality, allow us to introduce Rocko — a 4-year-old, 160-pound sweetheart who’s part couch potato, part class clown, and 100% ready to be someone’s best friend.
Rocko is currently seeking a foster or foster-to-adopt home where he can gain confidence, build trust, and truly thrive. He’s not neutered just yet, but that will be taken care of through the rescue. What he really needs now is stability, patience, and someone who sees past his size and into his kind, goofy spirit.
Despite his large frame, Rocko is a total lap dog at heart. He loves being around people and has lived in an active, noisy home with children, cats, and other dogs. He’s been especially gentle and patient with a toddler in his previous home, earning him the title of “family-focused dog” from those who know him best. Despite this history, we do recommend a home with older children due to his size and lack of training.
Rocko’s Vibe:
He’s a friendly, affectionate goofball who loves attention, cuddles, and—above all else—tennis balls. If it bounces, squeaks, or flies through the air, Rocko is all in. He also has a soft spot for stuffed toys and prefers playing with smaller dogs. In his previous home, he shared space peacefully with other pups and even groomed and snuggled with them. He also coexisted sweetly with cats, often sharing naps and gentle nose boops.
What He’s Working On:
Like many rescue dogs, Rocko has a few quirks. He hasn’t had much consistent leash training and is a little too nervous to go on walks right now, especially with loud trucks or busy streets. Thunder, fireworks, and vacuums are not his favorite things, either. But give him a safe backyard, and he’ll happily zoom, play, and soak up the sunshine.
He’s also working on basic obedience and would do best with someone who can help him continue learning and growing. Though he barks at strangers, it’s more out of fear than aggression—once he sees you’re kind, he warms up quickly.
The Ideal Home:
Rocko is best suited for a home with older children, only because of his size and current lack of formal training. He’s house trained and crate trained, and he thrives in environments where he can be close to his people. This guy doesn’t want to be alone in another room—he wants to be where the action is, whether that’s movie night on the couch or tossing a tennis ball in the yard.
He does have one special request: no chicken in his diet, please! He does best on a chicken-free menu.
Rocko’s former owner described him as “one of the sweetest dogs I’ve ever owned.” And it shows. Underneath his big bark and bigger body is a loyal, funny, and affectionate companion who just wants to be loved and included. With the right guidance and a little patience, Rocko has the potential to become an incredible lifelong friend.
So if you’ve got room in your home (and on your couch), Rocko just might be the perfect addition to your family. He’s ready to love, ready to play, and most importantly—ready to be loved right back.
