Well hey there Rocky Great Dane families! My name is Gus but I also answer to more formal names like “Mr. Gus” and “Senor Gustavo”. Apparently these names fit me because I am the consummate gentleman.
I was found as a stray in South Texas and taken to a shelter. When the shelter checked for a microchip, they discovered I had one and contacted my family. My former family decided they didn’t want to come pick me up so they left me in a shelter. The people at the shelter were so sad my past family didn’t want to come take me home. I am just the goodest boy ever, too.
SO ARE YOU READY FOR THIS: Not ONE Great Dane rescue – but – TWO Great Dane rescues worked together to get me out of the shelter and find me a foster home. When I left the shelter for my freedom ride, all the humans lined up to say goodbye because I apparently had quite the impact on everyone. I put on the best smile on for and confidently left the shelter, knowing I was in good care.
I am now heading to the great state of Colorado to a foster home that can’t wait to welcome me. Woohoo! Well this home is anything like the temporary homes I’ve been crashing at for the last week or so – life is going to be great. What can I say? I am a “the bowl is half full” kinda Dane!!
I am one laid back Gus, great with other dogs, great with all people and just like to meander close to my person. I can be a bit of a bed hog if you let me but I’ve been told I’m a great spooner!
Stay tuned as I make my way to Colorado and settle into my foster home.
