Color: Merle   Weight: 90 lbs

Chevy has been spending time in her foster home, slowly learning what it means to feel safe and loved. She has come a long way from her traumatic past but still has a journey ahead of her. This sweet, playful girl needs a patient and understanding family—one that can help her continue building trust and confidence.

A Silly, Affectionate Companion with a Shy Side

Chevy is the perfect mix of goofy and affectionate once she gets comfortable. 🎭 She loves to play, especially with squeaky toys, which she joyfully chomps on while rolling around in happiness. She may even flop onto your lap, wiggling around like a total clown—just be prepared for some accidental paw smacks! 😆

However, Chevy is very fearful of new people, loud noises, and sudden movements. She takes time to warm up but forms strong bonds once she trusts you. She is especially leery of men and needs gentle introductions with lots of positive reinforcement (and treats!).

A Smart Girl Who’s Learning Every Day

Despite her fears, Chevy is incredibly intelligent and eager to learn! 🏆 She knows:
✔️ Sit
✔️ Down
✔️ Come
✔️ Stay
✔️ Off

She’s getting better at waiting patiently for things instead of jumping around, and her leash manners are improving—though she will pull if something catches her eye. Food is a huge motivator for her, but because of past neglect, she is still learning to behave around it. Right now, she needs to be crated during mealtime to avoid counter-surfing and food aggression.

Chevy’s Challenges & Progress

🔹 Stranger Anxiety: She barks at unfamiliar people, animals, and even inanimate objects (like piles of snow or garage doors). With slow introductions, she can warm up but still needs reassurance.
🔹 Separation Anxiety: Chevy does fine in her crate if her people are on the same floor but will bark and paw if left alone in a different room. If left home alone, she takes longer to settle.
🔹 Housetraining: She’s mostly house trained but has had a few accidents, mostly when adjusting to new environments. She gets restless when she needs to go out but doesn’t have a clear signal yet.
🔹 Prey Drive: She reacts to small animals in a mix of fear and aggression but hasn’t had close interactions with other dogs or cats.

The Perfect Home for Chevy 🏡💖

Chevy needs a calm, structured home with someone who has experience working with fearful dogs. She thrives with a patient person who can help her gain confidence at her own pace. Because of her anxieties, a home without young children would be best. A fenced yard would be a bonus so she can play safely!

While Chevy is still learning how to trust, her progress has been incredible. She is a funny, sweet, and loving dog just waiting for the right family to give her the chance she deserves.

💌 Are you the one to help Chevy continue her journey? If you’re ready to provide the love and patience she needs, she could be the perfect companion for you! 🐾💕
