Jamison & Morty need your help! These two handsome 7 week old little fella’s have what is called an inguinal hernia. An inguinal hernia is when abdominal contents protrude through the inguinal canal – an opening in the muscle wall of the groin area. This will require surgery to correct.
X-rays were taken this evening to better gauge the areas affected and it looks like there’s sand and gravel in their intestinal tracts! The veterinarian leading their care would like to see this sand & gravel work its way through before surgery. The great thing is that this two growing pups are voracious eaters and poop just as much!!
And to top it all off, they both have Entropion. Entropion is an abnormality of the eyelid, where the eyelids turn inward causing irritation and inflammation to the eye and surrounding tissue.
2-2-2020 – Dane hugs & slobbery kisses to all that had a hand in these guys’ rescue!! It’s amazing and humbling to know so many great people willing to pull together last minute for such handsome young fellows like Jameson & Morty. Just to recap, Jamison & Morty entered RMGDRI two weekends ago, each with inguinal hernias. Both hernias have been surgically repaired. Jamison’s was a bit more challenging than his brothers, but both have been corrected and they are in recovery. Well, supposed to be in recovery. It is quite the challenge to keep two 9 week old puppies from wrestling with one another. They both are very inquisitive about the world and are keeping their foster family on their toes. As soon as they heal from their surgeries, their puppy vaccinations will be started and they will be looking for a forever family. Families interested in adopting either of these puppies need to understand that they will require a corrective eye surgery after their puppyhood (~1-2 years old).
